Snow Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!
Emelia had been trying to get Daddy out of bed since 7:15 and he kept hitting the metaphorical snooze button by telling her to go read a book. In retrospect, it's a good thing that she finally guilted him into waking up at around 7:45.
This is only the second time Emelia's seen snow in Texas, and the first was kind of pathetic. This time wasn't much better, by northern standards, but it was at least a couple of inches deep around the house.
Here's Emelia putting the finishing touches on her first snowman that's taller than six inches. Daddy helped to roll the bottom and the torso (the "middle head" according to Emelia) but Emelia rolled the head all by herself. This snowman's quite an upgrade from the last one. The eyes are grapes instead of peppercorns and the nose is now a full-size baby carrot (as opposed to a matchstick carrot).
Then she stands proudly by her creation.
She's never been big into the concept of throwing snowballs, but after watching daddy throw a few, she got jealous. Of course, Daddy had to make them and Emelia threw them. That's because Daddy makes them hard enough to stick to the fence.
Now, something that has always enamored Emelia is the idea of making snow angels. She didn't pass up her chance to make a few.
Unfortunately, the other idea that's always fascinated Emelia is catching snowflakes on her tongue. Well, the snow was aleady down and there was no more falling from the sky. As a matter of fact, it was already melting pretty rapidly. So, some astute observations by Emelia and some quick thinking by Daddy led to a game where Daddy threw snowballs into the tree to make more snow fall while Emelia tried to catch the chunks on her tongue. Every once in a while, she even caught some that were small enough to pass for snowflakes.
The end result of the game was a girl with a very cold face.
Finally, Emelia's toes started to freeze, since she doesn't have any boots or warm socks. Luckily, it wasn't really that cold. Anyway, we decided that it was time to come in and recover from the cold. A little hot chocolate and a fire warmed up those toes pretty quickly.
